What is better than one Full Moon in Capricorn? Two and a Winter Solstice. Happy Longest day of the year and the eve of the Australia Full Moon in Capricorn, well the first at least. There will be another at the end of this Cancer Season as we have 13 moons a year and each year this means two fall in one sign and this year it is Capricorn. Given we are in Winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, I feel it is appropriate. Capricorn energy is often associated with the gathering of resources, what you need to sustain yourself, before the cold of winter sets in. This Full Moon is a moment where the days are super short but going to get longer, the middle of the year and an opportunity to pause and reflect on the balance between our inner and outer worlds, our outward ambitions and our inward desires.

To help you unlock the power of this Full Moon in Capricorn I have created a FREE Capricorn Full Moon Workbook. You can download yours here :

The Full Moon in Capricorn occurs in Australia on June 22nd at 11.08am at 1 degree of Capricorn. Look to see where early Capricorn is in your chart to glimpse the areas that will be affected by this earthy cardinal Moon. We are at the middle of the year and at this midpoint, it's wise to pause and reflect on our progress. We began the year with the Sun in Capricorn, setting our goals and resolutions with a focus on planning and achievement. Now, under the Full Moon in Capricorn, we are asked to review and adjust our priorities, goals, and ambitions. This is a period for assessing how we manage our responsibilities and where we might need to make changes.

Capricorn energy encourages us to be dutiful and responsible, often placing ambitions above all else. This Full Moon asks us to evaluate where we may be overcommitting in one area at the expense of another. Conversely, it's also a time to identify where we might be shirking responsibilities that need our attention. What is holding us back from achieving a balanced approach to our duties?

The Full Moon shines a light on the balance we all need to achieve between our roots and our aspirations, our inner world with our outer world, our family life and our career. With the Sun being in Cancer the feeling realms are heightened and emotions around these kinds of themes are calling to be acknowledged. It's time to articulate our inner experiences and cleanse our systems by letting go of what no longer serves us.

This Full Moon emphasises the need for work-life balance, urging us to evaluate our performance in both domains and ensure that these aspects of our lives are in harmony.

Are we managing our responsibilities effectively?

Are we allowing one area to overshadow the other?

Or are we avoiding our duties altogether?

During this Full Moon the Sun in Cancer is sitting next to Venus in Cancer as well with Mercury also having recently joined the sign. The emphases then during this time may be thinking about our inner worlds, our need to connect deeply with our loved ones, enhance our emotional bonds and foster a sense of security and comfort.

The Moon in Capricorn, on the other hand, represents our outer worlds, focusing on our responsibilities, careers, public standing, and reputation. This opposition highlights the interplay between our private and public lives, showing how our inner world influences our external actions and vice versa. Capricorn energy is about self-reliance, standing firm, and functioning effectively in the public sphere while maintaining integrity and striving for accomplishments that benefit both ourselves and others.

It may be wise to feel int these themes without taking rash action however as we also have Neptune making a square to this full moon, a configuration that calls for caution regarding confusion, illusion deception and self-deception. We need to ask ourselves now whether our perceptions around these themes are realistic or shrouded in illusion or fantasy. Are our expectations of both our inner, root family world and equally our outward career focused world realistic? Neptune's influence can blur the lines between reality and illusion, making it crucial to stay grounded and discerning and making sure we see through any potential delusion or idealism.  We might also find ourselves reacting to disillusionment or uncovering truths that challenge our perceptions.

Use this Full Moon to release patterns and behaviours that lead to being overly responsible or not responsible enough in various areas of our lives. Embrace the opportunity to find harmony between your inner and outer worlds, and let go of what no longer serves your growth and well-being.

The Sun shifts in watery cardinal Cancer on June 21st.  Personally, I do love a Cancer Season in Australia, a time that also sees us transition into the winter solstice here in Australia, marking a profound shift in our cosmic landscape as we move from riding the rather vibrant and buzzy waves of an abundance of planets in Gemini. Now, Cancer's nurturing and introspective energy invites us to retreat inward. It's a time to cozy up, reflect, and rejuvenate.

Cancer energy encourages us to slow down, embrace our emotions, and seek comfort in our personal sanctuaries. It's a beautiful period for self-care, deepening family bonds, and reassessing our goals with a heart-centred approach. On the solstice we are reminded to embrace these moments of retreat to allow ourselves to embrace the dark, our vulnerable emotional selves knowing that from here the days will start to get longer and the opportunity to re-emerge and shine during Leo Season is just around the corner.

The Symbolism of the Crab

The story of the crab, which regularly sheds its shell to grow, beautifully reflects Cancerian energy. The crab faces great vulnerability while waiting for its new shell to form, often retreating to a secure place until it is safe to re-emerge. This story reminds us to shed what we have outgrown, to allow ourselves to feel vulnerable, and to grow a new part of ourselves ready to emerge when the Sun shifts into Leo. Use this Cancer season to go within, nurture yourself, dive into your emotions, and re-emerge as a stronger, better version of yourself.

Themes of Cancer Season

In Australia, Cancer season beckons us to go within, stay indoors, nurture ourselves and others, connect with family, and move away from the heady experience of Gemini into the more feeling realms. This time is about recharging our batteries and nurturing our spiritual practices. It's an excellent period to focus on your biological or chosen family, attend to home maintenance or renovation projects, cook delicious meals, and nurture yourself and others.

Cancer, by nature, is a beautifully emotional, sensitive, nurturing energy focused on looking after others. It is the sign of the archetypal mother—protective, caring, and willing to defend the family. The Moon rules Cancer, and like the Moon, it is changeable; it ebbs and flows like the ocean's tides. It can be moody and broody, but at its essence, it is all about honouring the divine feminine energy in all of us.

Energetic Shifts and Astrological Events

We are likely to feel a stark energetic shift as we move from mutable air to cardinal water. Very quickly after the Sun moves into Cancer, we experience the first of two Full Moons in Capricorn. This energy offers us the opportunity to balance our outer worlds with our inner worlds, contemplating how we navigate our professional and personal lives and how we fuse our outward responsibilities with our emotional needs and values.

A few days later, the ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, shifts back into retrograde motion in the sign of Pisces. This may spark a period in which we review and reassess how we implement and navigate boundaries in our lives. It may also be a period to review long-term goals and create foundations for our creative, spiritual, and emotional needs.

These themes might be particularly predominant this Cancer season as Neptune, the co-ruler of Pisces, also turns retrograde on July 2nd. This could be an opportunity to peel back the layers of delusion or confusion, seek greater clarity, and cultivate a more realistic perspective in our lives.

On the same day, Mercury moves out of Cancer and into Leo, compelling us to be more expressive and bold in our communication with others, offering a period for creative self-expression and enthusiastic idea-sharing.

The New Moon in Cancer on July 6th will consolidate this Cancer season with an extra focus on our emotional well-being, family dynamics, and themes of security and belonging in our lives. This will be a potent time for setting intentions around how we wish to foster and possibly change these themes in our lives.

The energy may lift when Venus joins Mercury in Leo on July 12th. Our love language and romantic needs will be fueled with more passion, expression, and creativity. We are reminded to celebrate beauty, embrace the parts of ourselves that need to shine, and metaphorically dance like no one is watching.

Energetically, July 21st will bring forth a burst of dynamic and versatile energy as Mars moves into Gemini, increasing our curiosity, mental agility, and need for change. Finally, we shift into Leo season and step onto the stage of life as the Sun moves into the heart of its home sign, Leo, on July 22nd.

Remember Cancer season is a time to go within, to nurture yourself, dive into emotional depth and introspection. Embrace the nurturing qualities of Cancer while navigating the changes and opportunities presented by the cosmos. Allow for growth, clarity, and creative expression, and emerge stronger and more aligned with your true self.

As Cancer Season embraces us with its nurturing and intuitive energy, this period is an ideal time to delve into your astrological chart. With the upcoming full moon in Capricorn, the spotlight is on cardinal signs—Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.

This period offers a powerful opportunity for initiating new beginnings and making strategic decisions.

In our astrology session I can help you embrace this moment to set intentions and build a solid foundation for your future, aligning your goals with the supportive, transformative energies of your unique astrological blueprint.

Have you felt the buzz of all this energy in Air? Since Jupiter moved into Gemini, I feel like everything has sped up a little. We are more in our heads now, and as we approach this New Moon, we are reminded that there is currently very little earth energy to ground ourselves with and we may indeed be feeling quite ‘buzzy’. This is a wonderful opportunity to open our minds, satiate our curiosities, connect with others and find our voice; however, be reminded to keep your feet on the ground, especially the days on either side of this New Moon. Nevertheless, this is a great invitation to navigate the spirit of inquiry, to celebrate and ask questions and set intentions around how we wish to be heard and hear others in the world.

There's quite a lineup of energy gathered in the sign of Gemini during this Gemini season, which will peak on the 6th of June at 10.38pm in Eastern Australia, occurring at 16 degrees of Gemini. Being a mutable sign, this New Moon energy will most significantly stimulate the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. However, with so many planets now aligned in Gemini, the buzz is palpable for everyone. This New Moon energy is fueled with themes related to our mental and cognitive curiosities, our ability to perceive and digest information, to gather and share ideas and facts, and to embrace the human need for connectivity and communications.

Venus joins the Sun and the Moon in Gemini, while Saturn in Pisces squares it, and the ruler of Gemini, Mercury, is busy at home in the sign as well. This promises to be a dynamic energy that may have us overthinking, overanalyzing, and potentially overdoing our mental capabilities over the days either side of the New Moon. There is very little earth energy in the sky at this time, so we need to ensure we don’t get carried away with the mental realms and remember to consciously ground ourselves, to breathe, and remember to pause as this can be a very high nervous energy period. Saturn, our planet of grounded reality in aspect to this Sun and Moon, will offer a more stabilizing energy now and perhaps provide us with a little bit of structure to ground our thinking and ideas.

That said, we can use this time to really ignite our curiosities and energy for exploring new ideas, discovering new things, making sure we have our facts straight, and directing our creative energies toward linking ideas and communicating what we need to say. In other words, this is a very good New Moon to set intentions around what and how we wish to cultivate our minds and how we want to express our voice.

With Venus being in Gemini now and sitting alongside the Sun and Moon, our need for a love of connection with others, of communication, language, words, and ideas is amplified. We may be more drawn toward interesting conversation and interactions that stimulate our wit, sense of fun, and engagement with others. Gemini is a dual-natured sign; it needs to interact with the world around it, and this is the perfect time to do so. We might also be more stimulated to express our affections, desires, and values through verbal or written cues.

As with all New Moons, this is a time to set new intentions, and this time it's all about what we might like to learn, how we might like to change our communication or even social skills, how we want to enrich our minds, use new technology, or indeed stretch ourselves to consider ideas that may feel alien to us.

During this New Moon, we can think about what kind of information brings us joy that we would like to share or even just dive into more deeply. We can set intentions around how we might like to expand our knowledge or indeed share what we know with others. Is there a new way you could disseminate what you have been wanting to share with the world? Use this New Moon to brainstorm all sorts of ideas as to how you might like to find your voice in an area you are passionate about. This is a perfect time to think about what areas of our lives we would like to act as both a teacher and a student. This is the time to start that new course, go on a retreat to learn something new, or explore your community in a new way.

We can also use this New Moon to set intentions around finding new opportunities to connect with others, to push ourselves outside of our social comfort zones, and forge real connections with people who we might find have something to teach us. Use this time to think about how you can expand and enhance these connections.

This New Moon reminds us that communication is a two-way street and that listening is just, if not more, important than talking. Where do you need to listen more, what can you do to cultivate more proactive listening in life? This is the time to set some intentions around becoming more mindful in our communication exchanges and to take a proactive approach to really hearing what the other has to say.

As a mutable sign, Gemini energy also reminds us to be adaptable, flexible, and open in our mindset. Where might you need to cultivate a more flexible mindset, how rigid are you in your ideas and in convincing others of the need to be right? Use this time to make a conscious effort to open the mind, to really understand and appreciate that we are all different with our unique realities and perceptions. A closed rigid mind and unwillingness to hear and consider the truths of others are part of what is so troubling in the world right now. With Jupiter in Gemini, we have the opportunity during this New Moon to surrender our need to always be right.
